A system approach for overcoming the crisis
Torino Strategica, the association engaged to develop the new plan for the city, has assigned Bellissimo the publishing project for the first two books on the local community consultation.
After “Torino. La città delle opportunità”, (Turin. The city of opportunities), which presents the proposals of a task force of young experts, “Torino. Fare sistema per superare la crisi” (Turin. A system approach for overcoming the crisis) brings together the voices of the actors within the metropolitan area — municipal authorities, businesses, foundations, etc. — interviewed by the Director Anna Prat and the Vice Chair Valentino Castellani from June 2012 to March 2013.
Bellissimo took care of the text editing, graphics design and pictures in the publication, which also contains quotes, aerial views and a map of the organisations involved.
The back cover presents it as follows:
“The crisis, the metropolitan area, local authorities, transport, the economy, welfare, smart city, human capital, and the community: reflections on the future of Turin from the city’s strategic actors. In relaunching the strategic planning, the desire was to start afresh from the members of the association and local actors, by gathering their points of view and their concerns, ideas, and expectations. This book provides a multifaceted view of the results of the consultation conducted by Torino Strategica between 2012 and 2013; a consultation that will continue over the coming months”.
“Fare sistema” (A system approach) accompanies and completes the book on the vision expressed by the task force. Developed in parallel, the two publications produced by Bellissimo visually trace and tell the story of a shared process of reflection on Turin and its future, in which the creative design firm applied its experience gained in urban communications.
In May 2013, Bellissimo presented the two books during La città di domani (The city of tomorrow), two joint evenings on the future of Turin and Milan, organised together with the urban consultants Secolo Urbano.
